Today in the building industry many people build houses, but a true home builder is hard to find. Numerous contractors simply run a business, relying on each of their trade's ability, not having the love and knowledge it takes to make a house and home. Providence Homes and Custom Metal Works was established in 2010 with the idea that home building should be more. We pride ourselves in sharing years of hands-on skills and experience to make your home truly different.

Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson, CEO of Providence, pursued building as his only passion from an early age. By his junior year, he started his own business trimming, building decks and custom cabinets. In high school, he was working beside some of the best builders in town. Steve's senior year was spent on small building projects as well as working in the local lumber yard expanding his knowledge of the building industry.  In college, shop class was first on his list.  He learned every aspect of residential construction. By the fall of 1996 he was working hand in hand with the instructor on an entire home and full basement. The project was an overwhelming success.

By the end of college he had completed several homes and numerous custom cabinets, furniture, decks and remodels.  Having earned a reputation at college for his quality and commitment, he was given the opportunity to construct the college's 20 feet of custom cabinets, the secretaries desk and all the bookcases for a local library. He graduated with a B.A. in small business management, and a minor in residential construction. After graduating, he was hired by one of the fastest growing home builders in Houston, Texas where he learned and perfected the production home industry. Within a year he was awarded "Superintendent of the Year" managing the complete construction of more than 30 houses at a time and completing over one hundred that first year.

A true builder is one that can do all the work. Steve spends many hours a week in the field actually wearing a tool belt. He does all the drafting for Providence clients. He has the ability to draw out your floorplan and see it all the way to fruition. He keeps all the details in check so nothing gets missed. When you build with Providence, you have the advantage of utilizing his 25 years of experience and knowledge.

Liz Nelson

Launching her career in 1996 in Houston, Texas with a heart for first time home buyers, Liz Nelson discovered a real passion for real estate.  In her second year, she was earning many awards and recognition for her work with investors.

These early years taught her all the aspects of buying, fixing, selling, and renting these investment properties.  For the past ten years she’s brought this passion to beautiful Bowling Green.

Married to her builder husband, Steve Nelson of Providence Homes, she’s mastered the art of marketing, designing, staging, and decorating in the home market.

Today with her growing family, Liz is excited to bring her twenty three years of real estate experience and her well rounded perspective to help you with your financial goals or discovering your real estate dreams.

Zechariah Nelson

From a young age, Zechariah has loved to build and create. Legos were his favorite. Rarely using the directions that came in the package, he had a gift for creating his own designs.

Currently, he has completed both an Associates degree and a welding degree. His unique ability to fabricate steel into a variety of home projects has proven to be an asset to Providence and his clients.

Looking for opportunities to grow in his skill and be challenged, he applied and was selected to compete on the History Channel’s Forged in Fire. His episode airs October 12th at 8pm central.

Josiah Nelson

Josiah has completed both an Associates degree and a tradesmen degree and has chosen to focus his abilities on wood. From creating 11 foot custom farm tables and furniture to his structural abilities in framing and decks, Josiah is mastering the trade.

Being a quick learner and meticulous to details are virtues that are hard to come by today. On top of those qualities, he has a growing interest in big picture thinking. This passion will aid in the future of Providence Homes.

Eli Brunswick

Eli began working with Providence two years ago. He came to us while he was still in high school with a good work ethic, attitude and a desire to learn the trade.

During his time with us, he’s had a chance to develop his carpentry skills with the many different things we do. He has decided to pursue more formative training in metal work and welding. This will make him an even better fit for Providence. He will have the ability to float back and forth between metal fabrication and carpentry.

We are pleased to see how he has progressed in such a short time and are eager to see his skills develop and grow and he continues his education.

Rebecca parsons

Lots of people can work in an office, but having someone with management, office, people skills and who knows the ins and outs of construction is invaluable.

Growing up in a construction family, Rebecca has been able to grow her skills in the office coupling and retaining all the things her daddy taught her.

She offers Providence clients a much needed hand in design and product knowledge.
